Kurzbeschreibung	The term "perfidia", first used by Brossard in 1703, appears next in an autograph of Giuseppe Torelli (now in the archives of San Petronio in Bologna). The form of this kind of perfidia is very simple: over a sustained bass two solo violins play imitative figurated parts. The principle of the perfidia is so undemanding that one can assume that it was frequently improvised. Although it occupies no specific position within the larger forms, it appears as a new element in the form of the sonata or the concerto and provides the impulse for a new kind of compositional technique.
