Kurzbeschreibung	English: Sketches Händel's sojourn in Rome, beginning in December 1706, where he worked under the patronage of Francesco Maria Ruspoli. Evidence found in the financial records reveal many details about Händel's activities: his presence for the hunt in Cerveteri, then at Civitavecchia. His arrival in the Ruspoli household is closely aligned with that of the singer Margherita Durastanti. In addition, the subject matter of certain works, namely cantatas, make them very appropriate to Ruspoli's circumstances. There are also five cantatas (HWV 90, 116, 145, 171, and 172), attributed by Ellen Harris to Händel's time in Florence, but now proven to be written in Rome. Examination of a 1708 painting by Alessandro Piazza—primarily a depiction of Ruspoli's troops gathering in Rome—includes persons involved with the Ruspoli household, perhaps Händel himself. Corrigenda are included.
