Kurzbeschreibung	The Variations on a Chopin Theme, based on Chopin's Prelude in C minor (op. 28, No. 20), is a series of parallel and modified parallel variations followed by free development variations. The latter increase in size to become individual forms with the last serving as a recapitulation. The Variations on a Theme of Corelli, based on La Folia (op. 5, No. 12), is two series of variations, generally of parallel construction, separated by an 'Intermezzo' and concluded by a 'Coda.' The Corelli set is more economical, employing more closely related materials in clearer architectural units.
